The owners of a 1920s bungalow in Old Northeast had converted their attic into a bright family room with a vaulted, beamed ceiling, but the space got hot by mid-afternoon. They wanted a large modern ceiling fan centered between the beams without visible wiring or a wobble.
We installed a 60-inch, eight-blade fan with an integrated LED light on a fan-rated brace, using a sloped-ceiling adapter and the correct downrod so the blades clear the beams and sit at a comfortable height above the sofa.
Project goals
The main goals were a secure mount on a sloped ceiling and a fan that runs quietly on high speed all summer.
fan-rated bracing
A steel brace was fastened between rafters so the fan box carries the full load.
sloped ceiling setup
A sloped-ceiling adapter and longer downrod keep the fan level and balanced.
Project challenges
Working at the peak of a vaulted ceiling meant careful ladder setup over finished floors and furniture, and the existing light box was not rated for a fan.
- replacing a light-only box with a fan-rated brace
- safe ladder staging on finished hardwood
- centering the fan between exposed beams
- balancing eight blades for quiet operation
The result
The room now stays noticeably cooler and the fan runs silently on every speed. Total time on site was about three hours. Planning something similar? Read more about our Fixtures, Fans & TV Mounting service or request a free estimate.
